MarketView Report

Good news from the latest quarterly MarketView report showing a 6.7% increase in retail sales from last year, with increases each month in 2012. There is also a significant increase in customers from Te Atatu South, Henderson and Auckland Central. Not sure why those additional customers are coming, but if you have any ideas on that please comment. Our retail is looking up which is most encouraging, along with a high volume of Real Estate sales at very good prices over recent months.

Harbourview Sculpture Trail

Thanks to everyone for your great support of the Sculpture Trail. Great support was received from Auckland Council, The Trusts Community Foundation, Graeme Douglas Chatiable Trust, and GVP.  Thirty-five artists were commissioned for 45 sculptural works which were displayed around the Danica Pond on the Harbourview Walkway, from 3rd to31st March.
Volunteers: we are very grateful to the many volunteers who  offered support.
Our curator was Sally Lush, a very experienced artist and curator of sculpture.

What is a Customer?
-  A customer is the most important person ever to enter this shop or office, in person or by phone or mail.
- A customer is not dependent on us; we are dependent on them.
- A customer is not an interruption to us; they are the purpose of our work.
- We are not doing the customer a favour by serving them - they are doing us a favour by giving us the opportunity to serve them.
- A customer is not someone to argue or match wits with. Nobody ever won an argument with a customer.
- A customer is a person who brings their wants to us; and it is our job to handle them profitably, to them and ourselves.
- A customer is an endangered species, of unknown habitat.  Look after them, or you may not have many more.

Mural Wins First Place in Professional Murals with Resene

We have been advised that our new Village Mural, painted by local artist Cliff Uepa, has been awarded First Place Professional Mural 2011 Mural Masterpieces Competition, conducted and supported by Resene Paints.  This is a great recognition of the Mural painted by Cliff and representing so many aspects of life on the Peninsula and the West.  Our thanks to all our sponsors, Auckland Council, Te Atatu RSA, and the Business Association team who supported the project. Also to Corrections for their help in preparing the wall ready for the mural.  Well done.  Mural Officials

Re-Development of the Library and Community Centre

A public consultation was held at the Commuity Centre Main Hall, at 7.00pm on Tuesday 30th August when the plans for re-development of the Community Centre and Library were shared with the community.  Progress is ongoing, with the additonal funding being secured, consents being obtained, and plans finalised.  Look out for work starting March-April 2012.

New Mural at Hooked on Fish is Started

After good work by Corrections to paint out the old mural and prepare the surface, our local artist Cliff Uepa has started work on the new Mural.  Still a work in progress, but we look forward to a great result, as Cliff has achieved with the Power boxes he has painted (see below).

Power Boxes Painted
With the support of Council Cliff Uepa has been contracted to upgrade the power boxes in the Main Street and Harbourview Drive.
Cliff has done a great job enhancing the town centre with iconic work that reflects the Peninsula location. The latest image is outside Haddads Takeaways in the Main Street.  Thanks Cliff, and also for the decorations on some of the shops.  Well done.

With the support of Council and Corrections all tagging in the rear of the shopping centre has been cleared and a new coat of paint applied. This has made a great difference to the quality of our shopping centre. Our thanks to those who did the hard yards. More
